In-Person Day 2 - 09:30 - 10:30
Language: English (accompanied with Mandarin/Chinese subtitles.)

Art direction in video games can be very opaque and challenging given today's indie game atmosphere. Not only will you have to stand out in a sea of amazing looking games, the thought processes of art direction are often not openly discussed. Game art is usually seen through concept art and 3D screenshots of assets and environments - but that's not the entire view of what makes up art direction. This talk delves into one approach to art direction with Viewfinder , how to integrate art direction with game design and narrative to form a more cohesive experience for yourself, your team, and hopefully your intended audience.

This talk discusses challenges regarding art direction and interaction with game design and narrative, particularly in such a perception bending game. Audience members will learn one such approach for breaking down any potential art direction for their indie game into actionable items and understanding what unique elements they can pull as part of their intended vision.
